Bring the colours of nature to life.

Botanical Colour - Course Introduction

Watch this, to see what I offer on this course.

On this six session course, which starts on 4th January 2021, we are going to consider ideas around colour mixing and matching. Then each week we will focus on a different colour and explore how to go about depicting flowers, fruit or vegetables of each particular colour. (There are a further six weeks to revisit and complete the course - which ends on 29th March.)

This course is based on my popular little Colour book* and is illustrated with artwork produced over 20 years as a botanical artist. Whilst I wouldn’t want you to expect start to finish tutorials, each session is packed with tips, ideas and information about painting plants of the relevant colours.

This course has two tiers: Standard and Masterclass. There are unlimited Standard course places whereas Masterclass places, which includes personal tutor advice and feedback, are limited.**

The six sessions cover the following:

SESSION 1 Colour mixing and matching
SESSION 2 Scarlets and Reds
SESSION 3 Purples and Blues
SESSION 4 Greens
SESSION 5 Browns and Blacks
SESSION 6 Yellows and White

Each session includes:

  • 40-55 minute video.
  • Notes.
  • Reference photos.
  • Exercise suggestions.
  • Discussion area to post work-in-progress and finished paintings (optional) for peer to peer advice and support.
  • Personal tutor advice and support, given via email or WhatsApp (up to twice a session) MASTERCLASS STUDENTS ONLY.

Once the six weeks are up you will have access to the tutorials for a further six weeks to revisit, revise or to finish projects (The course finishes on 29th March).

*You don't need a copy of the Colour book, but if you are interested it is available as a PDF download and in printed form (which includes a colour mixing kit) from my Etsy shop HERE

**This is a change from previous versions of this course (ie there are no named folders or feedback for Standard students).
